Fundraiser for SOUTHERN TIER CELEBRATES!

Article from PressConnects.com on September 25, 2009.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Southern Tier Celebrates! is partnering with Doug's Fish Fry on October 9th for a day of fundraising for Southern Tier Celebrates! (STC) The traditional fish fry items and baked goods are available for sale; a portion of the proceeds will benefit STC a non-profit arts presenting organization that coordinates free performing, visual and literary arts events throughout the year. Familiar events presented by STC are First Night Binghamton, Pops! In The Arena, Latin Fest, Brown Bag Lunch Series and Community Art Making Workshops. STC is also a cultural partner in K-12 schools for Arts In Education programs.

STC has a long history of presenting high quality artists to this region at no; or little cost. This is only possible with the support of the local community, which is why it is so important you come out on October 9th to help raise funds for this organization. In the present economic situation, all non-profit organizations are finding new challenges in staying in business. Many of the non-profit organizations in this area contribute a great deal to the quality of life in our region, not to mention employing thousands of artists on a regional to international basis. Without community support on an individual basis, many of the wonderful arts events that enrich this area will not exist, and will only come to this community at a high price. So, buy fish and baked goods on October 9th-save the arts!

Southern Tier Celebrates! is supported in part by the United Cultural Fund through the Broome County Arts Council, the Conrad & Virginia Klee Foundation, and Broome County.
